Radio
Verve Radio is London Metropolitan’s student radio station. If you haven’t heard of us by now, then that is all about to change…
Verve Radio has been developing over the last two years; thanks to the hard work of dedicated students who volunteered their time to make the project possible. Now that we have the fundamentals in place (i.e. studio, software etc), the next year holds exciting potential and opportunity in moving the station forward.
Over the next 12 months we aim to:
- Put together a dedicated team with specific roles, to maintain, review and progress the station.
- Pass plans to put speakers in the common areas, so students can tune in during breaks, and become familiar with and know about the station.
- Have a strong schedule of regular, diverse and interesting shows
- Hold some events, using spaces such as the courtyard and the Rocket/Hub to further promote the station and reach the students.
So why do we need it?
Verve Radio is a fresh medium made specifically for the students of London Metropolitan University. It is for you, about you, and by you. In a university where there are over 30,000 students, there are a lot of things out there that need and want to be said, and Verve Radio will provide a voice for your thoughts and opinions. It’s a great channel to inform, educate and advise, while at the same time bringing our student community that little bit closer.
We want the station to be on everyone’s lips (for the right reasons), and be a part of your university life; something positive, social and fun. The station will, in time, form part of the identity of the University, it will keep you ahead of what’s happening in and around London Met, as well as providing a new way of interacting with other students.
Getting involved….
The station can only be a success if it keeps in touch with its audience, and this is why we need you to get involved if you have something to say, have a fresh idea, or want to be part of the running of this station. It is never a bad time to get involved, and we welcome any thoughts or feedback you may have on how we can improve what we do.
As Verve Radio progresses and expands, we do need more volunteer students to hold roles that require a running commitment, and we have specific team vacancies that you can apply for. We have positions in station management, program scheduling, technical assistance and presenting. Apart from the fun and people you will meet in your team, the experience will look great on your CV.
Also, this opportunity is on your doorstep, with room to do the projects and shows you want to do, and reach the thousands of students that attend our university. These are exciting times for Verve Radio, and we want smart, social, driven students with fresh ideas, to develop Verve Radio into the best it can be.
Don’t miss out on getting involved with this important part of the university. E-mail ivan [at] ververadio.co.uk and we will show you how to get involved.
